TAN: for topic # 4 on page 239, you need to use at least 3 sources; and yes, they may all be essays from our textbook. If you look at the outline I put on the board Sunday, you will see I used 5 sources, ALL from the book. You do not need to go online to get sources. If you give an opinion, you MUST support it with essays or articles; you CANNOT just go on and on about what YOU think.

As for the major research paper, the one due in DEcember, you need 4 books and 3 journals, MINIMUM; you do not have to have any online sources if you do not want to, but you need at least 9 sources and 3 different kinds. REview the handout I gave you about the research paper. Hope this helps.

PRASAD: As you haven't posted anything, I assume you found sufficient sources on factory farming.

I was informed that our library visit this coming Sunday, Nov. 2nd is from 1 PM to 3:30 PM in room 101A. If you get this message, go directly to the room. If you don't get this message or forget where to go and when, I will pick up the class in our room in Powdermaker Hall and we will go over to the library together.

AFTER THE PRESENTATION: we will return to our classroom where I will return your papers after going over some basic grammar that I marked on the essays.

I forget who asked what, but here are a few answers:

articles from wikipedia online do NOT count as one of your major required sources b/c they are generally pretty short (a few paragraphs) BUT you can use them as an additional source.

As to conclusions, I'd avoid summarizing essay, summaries from sources, but a wonderful SHORT quote might help your point; the points made in the conclusion, though, should be yours. What can anyone learn from this essay about this topic? What's your final advice re: TV, or online dating, or email?
